Cycling in Jenks: From Countryside to Hidden Trails
Cycling in Jenks: From Countryside to Hidden Trails
One of the things our homeowners love most about Jenks is there is no shortage of activities. From the aquarium, soon-to-be-open FlyingTee, mom and pop downtown shops, and fresh farmers markets, there's enough in this quiet suburb to keep the family busy on any given day. However, one hidden gem is the biking trails.
Talking to some of our cyclist friends in Jenks, they recommended taking to the trails as a great way to get active and build relationships in the community. Some bikers even have their own hidden trails, making them both exciting and adventurous for the avid bike rider. They recommend checking out a local bike store, like City Cycles, for a wide range of events that allow bikers in the area to be introduced to each other, as well as share biking experiences and tips. Popular events include Friday Night Happy Hour at the shop, reoccurring weekly rides and even training programs.
One of the reoccurring rides is held Tuesdays night at 6 p.m. For this ride, bikers set out on a marked group ride along a 16 mile course that goes around the West side of Jenks. This is a fun way for cyclers in the area to get involved and meet others within their skill sets. After the ride, everyone is welcome to come back to the shop to hang out and ask any questions they may have.
Sundays are dedicated to a ride through the beautiful countryside of Jenks. This ride is about 30 miles and starts at 1 p.m. This countryside ride is a favorite among the City Cycles group because it allows them to explore sites they don't get to see every day, all while getting to soak in the Sunday afternoon rays.
The biking community in Jenks is an active, friendly and easy-going crowd which welcomes you to join along in the fun. You might even come across your own secret trail you never knew Jenks had!
