7 Tips for Making Your Patio Your Favorite Place to Be
January 27, 2025
If there’s one thing Capital Homes customers rave about, it’s our passion for all things patio! That’s why every single one of our beautifully new built homes includes both a covered front and back porch. These spaces are perfect for greeting neighbors in our communities, sipping a morning coffee, waiting for the kids to hop off the bus, or simply unwinding with a glass of wine and some good conversation. They’re even ideal for grilling up your favorite meal and enjoying the outdoors in comfort.
With spring just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start planning and dreaming about those warmer days ahead. What better time than now to begin making our favorite porch hangouts even more amazing?
Here are some tips and tricks for making your outdoor porches just right.
Add Comfortable Seating. Incorporate chairs, benches, or swings with plush cushions to create an inviting space for relaxation. Add your favorite pillows and throws throughout the year to make it feel fresh and comfy.
Incorporate Warm Lighting: Use string lights, lanterns, or sconces to add a warm glow, enhancing the ambiance during evenings. It really makes a place look dreamy when it's all lit up at night.
Use Seasonal Decorations: Decorate with seasonal items like pumpkins, wreaths, or garlands to reflect the current time of year. With Valentine's Day right around the corner add pretty little wreaths and red flowers to make it sweeter.
Introduce Greenery: Place potted plants, hanging baskets, or window boxes with flowers or foliage to add life and color. Update it to keep it pretty and fresh throughout the year. There's no better way to relax then out watering them and watching them grow. We promise when you pull up after a long day it'll make you feel good to be home.
Lay Down an Outdoor Rug: An outdoor rug can define the space and add a layer of comfort. It can add a touch to color, or really bring an area together when you add different patterns and textures. We bet you'll double your cuddle time with your favorite furry friends when you add this extra touch.
Add Some Privacy: Use outdoor curtains, screens, or tall plants to create a sense of privacy and coziness. These additions will really make a place feel cozy and relaxing and sometimes just down right whimsical.
Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the porch tidy by regularly sweeping and organizing to ensure it remains inviting.

What Our
Homebuyers Are Saying
"The ease of not having to take care of hardly anything has been wonderful. A new home, a retirement community and peace of mind knowing we had a community of folks just like us sounded like a little slice of heaven. It has been 3 years now and we are settled into our daily routine. Giggling on our front porch, cooking our favorite foods, putting together puzzles and enjoying the simple things in life."
